LAS VEGAS – April 21, 2009 – He may be a volunteer at heart, but don’t expect former Pleasant View, Tenn.-resident Dustin West to enter the ring in his inaugural Las Vegas mixed martial arts bout without a tough fight.

“I am ready to hit the ring at Tuff-N-Uff this Friday and really work on taking Vegas by storm,” West said. “I’ve been waiting for a chance to step in the spotlight in the mixed martial arts capital of the United States and my time has now come.”

Sponsored by Sin City Fight Gear, West has been training for months in Las Vegas for his big break into high-profile amateur mixed martial arts. West has taken the up and coming mixed martial arts scene by storm with powerful submissions, unanimous decisions and first round technical knockout.

“You blink during my fight and you might miss all the action,” West said. “I have spent a lot of time training for this fight and I am more prepared emotionally and physically then I ever have been in my life. This is going to be a big challenge at a high-profile event and I look forward to making a name for myself towards the professional level.”

His training has come from some of the most respected names in Vegas. He is a proud member of the new International MMA Fight Club (IMFC) of Las Vegas. The IMFC team has an all star roster of the top trainers in the area.

“I’m speechless when somebody asks me about my gym,” West said. “I don’t even know how to explain how happy I am there. I can only shake my head in amazement sometimes when I look around at the talent at IMFC. Mark Beecher and Bryan Humes, Gil Martinez and Bobby Chiodini, I mean seriously, you can’t put a price on that type of training. Each one of those guys have taken personal time out of their schedules to help me become a better well rounded fighter. I need to personally thank all of them for how much they have taught me.”

With a perfect 3-0 fight record, West goes up against John Ripley this Friday at the Tuff-N-Uff Future Stars of MMA event taking place at the Orleans Hotel & Casino.

“This whole experience, leading up to Tuff-N-Uff, has been great,” said Jeff Hobbs, West’s business manager. “I couldn’t be prouder of Dustin right now. We decided to have his first three fights on the east coast (close to his hometown) so that he could test his skills and training far away from the Vegas and to judge where he was at and if he was ready. It was more than apparent after his first three fights, it was time to show Vegas who he was! Our sponsor, Sin City Fight Gear also needs to be recognized for everything they have done for us. They really care about the fighters they sponsor and have really made us feel like a part of a family.”

“I can’t wait to show my friends and family how far my dream has come,” West said.
