Ring Announcer Mike Markham To Work Fedor-Rizzo Bout In Russia
St. Petersburg, Russia - June 5, 2012 - World Class Ring Announcer Mike Markham has been selected to work Fedor Emelianenko’s (FAY-door) June 21st heavyweight mixed martial arts bout against Brazilian veteran Pedro Rizzo (HIZZ-oh) at the Ice Palace in St. Petersburg, Russia.
“It’s an honor to work an event of this magnitude and I expect an unbelievable atmosphere inside the Ice Palace on June 21st,” said Markham.
Emelianenko, a former Pride FC Heavyweight Champion and Russian national sports hero, went undefeated for nearly a decade at one point during his career.
Markham is no stranger to international events and worked Emelianenko’s November 2011 win over Jeff Monson at Moscow’s Olympic Arena before 22,000 fans and a television audience of millions. Markham also served as the English language voice of the 2012 World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship in Abu Dhabi and is expected to announce other events in Latin America, the Caribbean and the Middle East this year.
Markham has worked as a live announcer for over 30 event promoters including 17 fight promoters at events around the world.
